Music at the Market: Virginia Louise

  • Nashville Farmers' Market 900 Rosa L Parks Boulevard Nashville, TN, 37208 United States (map)

Growing up in a small town outside of Austin, Texas, Virginia Louise found her voice the way most 7-year-old southern musicians do, by singing the national anthem in local rodeos. With Fleetwood Mac blasting from her Mom’s speakers and Etta James’ song “At Last” playing on repeat in her childhood home, it was inevitable for the young musician to draw from the strength of feminine voices. During her teenage years, her southern rock roots and lone star state of mind later drew her closer to the city where she performed in open mics at dive bars and eventually fell in love with the sounds of the live music capital of the world.

At the age of 17, Virginia Louise enrolled in The Recording Conservatory of Austin to advance her dream further and became a fully-certified audio engineer only two years later. With her knowledge in mixing, mastering, recording, producing, and writing, Virginia Louise is a true powerhouse artist and musical expert. While recording at the conservatory, Virginia Louise started making music with her first alt-rock project, “Happy, Hollow”. Through “Happy, Hollow”, she grew her presence on stage to be a powerful one by performing in iconic Austin venues like Stubb’s, Barracuda, Cheer Up Charlies, and Mohawk. After “Happy, Hollow”, Virginia Louise started her first solo project and took it all the way to Music City itself, Nashville, TN.

She has since put together a collection of songs about the journey of finding her sense of self from Austin to Nashville in a moving and honest debut EP. The songs entail stories about womanhood, love, losing love, and making the selfish yet brave decision to follow your biggest and boldest dreams while the opportunity awaits you. Virginia Louise has grown to become not only a solo debut, but a blood, sweat, and tears passion project. Her artistry and works draw from a deep passion and authenticity that completely redefines today’s expectations of what a woman in the industry should be.
